[Award] Insulspan won top honors for excellence in the Affordable Housing category and was runner up in the Single Family ‘Small House’ Under 900 square feet category for the Staff Float Homes built on Bowen Island, BC by Union Steamship Co. Resort in the SIPA Building Excellence Awards. This project also earned top honors in the Panelized Homes less than 2,000 sq. ft. category at the Jerry Rouleau Awards by the NAHB’s Building Systems Councils.

[Project] Builder Matt Belcher is no stranger to building sustainable homes. His resume as a custom-home builder and consultant boasts several of the nation’s top green homes, authoring a book on sustainable construction, and direct involvement in the development U.S. building codes and green building standards.

[Award] The Warren County Solid Waste Management District has awarded Plasti-Fab’s Lebanon Ohio operation as the recipient of the Go Green Warren County Contest for 2014. In this contest the Lebanon Manufacturing Facility was given the award for their recycling efforts, as the amount of waste their plant delivered to the landfill was considerably lower than other facilities in the area.

[Project] When builder Pat Caporale and his wife Geri founded Caporale Construction, Ltd. in 1990, their goal was to produce healthier, more energy-efficient and more accessible homes. Following these aspirations has earned them a lot of recognition, including 12 Construction Achievements and Renovations of Excellence (CARE) awards from the Victoria Chapter of the Canadian Home Builder’s Association (CHBA), and selection as a finalist for the association’s provincial Georgie awards.

[Award] Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce has been awarded 2nd place at the National Habitat for Humanity conference in Winnipeg. The cash award of $60,000 is sponsored by Rio Tinto and Alcan and is awarded for incorporating sustainable components in the building. Plasti-Fab worked with the local Habitat Humanity supplying not just sustainable EPS materials, but volunteers to help with the project as well.

[Project] When the city-owned roof covering a portion of a local firehall and hotel began to leak, the task of repairing the 300 s.f. area began, and with it came the reimagining of the space overall.

[Award] GE Power & Water Technologies issues Customer Awards as part of a stewardship program to award such initiatives. Plasti-Fab Polymer Plant has received this recognition under the category of "Proof Not Promises" for a significant improvement in industrial operation.

[Project] Les Wold of Effect Home Builders is one of only a handful of builders in Alberta to receive the EnviroHome designation from the Canadian Home Builders’ Association, a program that selects the best-of-the-best green homes across Canada. The certification recognized the Mackenzie residence, an extremely sustainable 2,423 sq. ft. craftsman style home in Edmonton, Alberta.

[Project] Along a quiet tree-lined street in Edmonton’s Belgravia neighborhood, innovative builder Effect Homes is turning heads with their cutting-edge green development. Belgravia Green consists of three side-by-side homes similar in their net zero energy ambitions but using different strategies to produce as much energy as they consume over the course of a year.

[Project] In the progressive city of Vancouver, British Columbia, where all re-zoned space is required to meet the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building standard, outdoor retailer Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) constructed a truly inspiring and sustainable headquarters designed to meet the rigorous level of LEED Platinum, one of the highest green building standards in the world.

[Project] Brent and Monica Krueger wanted to start something different in Craik, Saskatchewan. They had been teaching business development for years through the Praxis School of Entrepreneurship, but they wanted to extend some of those principles to younger students. Their new Praxis International Institute in Craik will be the first private high school in Saskatchewan focusing on socially and environmentally responsible entrepreneurship.

[Award] Silver Valley Residence, Home of Distinction: Excellence in Home Design – Timber Frame: 3,001-4,000 sq. ft.

[Project] Arthur Lo has been building energy-efficient homes for over 17 years. His Vancouver-based company Insightful Healthy Homes has certified all their projects through Natural Resources Canada’s R-2000 program, offering homebuyers a high degree of energy efficiency and a solid return on their investment. But his latest project takes this philosophy a step further—a 2,400 sq. ft. home that is net zero energy ready and the first home in British Columbia to meet the new 2012 R-2000 Standard.

[Project] Located along the Little Campbell River outside of Langley, British Columbia, Camp McLean is one of the primary scout camps for the Scouts Canada Fraser Valley Council, servicing over 6,000 members. Following the organization’s emphasis on environmental conservation, the camp’s newest buildings are built green with help from Plasti-Fab products.
